VECTRA 3D Photographic Simulation Brings a New Dimension to Plastic Surgery at Dr Charles Cope

New technology allows patients to preview how they will look with aesthetic procedures

Recent advances in three dimensional (3D) photography combined with revolutionary new software allows prospective patients to accurately preview what they will look like as the result of breast augmentation and breast lifts, body contouring, facial procedures such as rhinoplasty, chin augmentations and more, well in advance of any surgery.

The process starts with the VECTRA 3D camera which produces a three-dimensional photograph of the patient. Then, using Sculptor software, the surgeon is able to simulate the expected results of a variety of aesthetic procedures. One of the main advantages of the Sculptor software, if you are not sure which operation is right for you, is that you can view simulations of alternative procedures eg breast augmentation compared to a breast lift next to each other, which allows you to make a decision about which procedure is right for you. It also allows patients to view results from different size, style and shape implants next to one other, making the choice of implant easier.

In a recent article (Oct 2013) of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Journal (Plast. Reconstr. Surg. 132: 810, 2013.), the main Plastic Surgery Journal worldwide, the 3D imaging VECTRA machine was found to be beneficial for patients considering breast augmentation surgery. The article concluded that patients prefer a centre that offers three-dimensional imaging technology; they feel that the simulation is very accurate and helps them greatly in choosing the implant; and that if they could go back in time, they would choose the same implant again.
