Living in Oz, it’s that time of year again; where the warmer weather is descending upon us in what seems so suddenly. Much of the country has experienced a bit of a heat wave in the last few days and it is only expected to continue through the summer months.

It is definitely that time of the year when we start thinking about swimming and heading to the beach (or the pool) to keep cool, and of course with this comes the exposure of skin in swimmers and bikinis (or nothing for the brave)! The last thing we want is to feel uncomfortable in our bodies or be covering up at this time of the year.

If you’re like me you’re always dreaming of changing the parts of your body that you’ve always been unhappy with. Well, I say there is no time like the present! We spoke to Dr Charles Cope from Infinity Skin Clinic located in three different practices around Sydney and the Central Coast about what procedures he is seeing clients for in the lead up to the summer months. There are a few procedures that have really cemented their place as popular cosmetic surgeries.

Buttock Lift or Brazilian Butt Lift

The Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) provides a dramatic improvement in contour by the use of fat transfer to the buttock, and is definitely an “in” procedure right now. Fat is removed from the other areas of the body using liposuction, and the fat is then injected back into the buttocks. Dr Cope says about the Buttock Lift or Brazilian Butt Lift, “this is a great technique giving an improvement in both the areas the fat is taken from while also giving you a firmer, higher and rounder buttock”.

Inner Thigh Lift

I don’t believe there are many of us that have not wished we had better (or smaller) shaped upper thighs! It is an area that for us women, even though we may have smaller bellies or top halves, our thighs can be just that more difficult to achieve a satisfactory result through exercising and diet. Dr Cope says, “A medial (inner) thigh lift removes excess skin and fatty bulges on the inner part of the thigh, and is often combined with liposuction of the thighs. This provides a dramatic improvement in contour, and improves discomfort from chafing of the inner thighs.”

Labiaplasty

Many women suffer from oversized or asymmetrical inner labia (labia minora). Elongated inner labia which extend past the outer vaginal lips (labia majora) are often a source of sexual embarrassment as well as causing discomfort when wearing bathing suits or other revealing or tight fitting clothing. Labiaplasty changes the appearance of the labia, relieving irritation and restoring self-confidence.

Liposuction

All the procedures above usually involve some liposuction to transfer fat or remove fat from the area wanting to contour. Liposuction is a great way to get rid of those last little bits of stubborn fat that just don’t want to leave on their own, and will give you great form and curves that you will want to show off! Liposuction can be performed almost anywhere on your body (obviously where there is fat to remove!).

It’s all about being confident in your own skin, and making the most of what you already have! Undergoing surgery or a procedure to enhance your own shape or body is not a cheat, it’s simply a desire to feel more confident in wearing the clothes and bikinis you want, instead of compromising because of those parts of yourself that just don’t seem to want to come to the beach party!

We have had some amazing Real Stories this year, and almost all of them have expressed how they have had procedures done to improve their own self-esteem and how the results have changed their lives. This is what it is all about. You only have one life, so we say “embrace it” and if you aren’t happy with something and it’s really affecting your life, Change It!
