Just recently, as General Manager of Plastic Surgery Hub & Wicked Beauty I had the great pleasure of attending 2 amazing industry events within a week of each other. The first was Cosmetex at the Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast, and the second was the Non-Surgical Symposium 2014 held at the Hilton in Sydney.

The speakers list at both of these events featured eminent plastic surgeons, dermatologists, physicians and clinicians from around the world. They delivered first class talks on techniques and new developments in their particular fields of expertise. The conferences were fantastic and attending events such as this only reinforces my belief in their importance.

As a consumer of cosmetic surgery and non-surgical ‘enhancements’, it gave me great confidence in the standard of quality, care, products, and practitioners that we have here in Australia. It always makes me wonder why anyone would travel overseas for their plastic and cosmetic surgery needs. And as I’ve said before I do believe it’s a false economy, if you want a great price, you just need to shop around in Australia for the best price you can get at the quality you need.

So if you are someone like me who aspires to look the best they can, when selecting your practitioner, choose one that is committed to continuous improvement. Are they happy to keep learning more about their craft? Do they know the latest happenings in the industry? Do they write articles? Can they answer all your questions? There’s so much to take into account.

Whatever the profession, relevant conferences like these provide an essential experience for people who need to maintain their existing knowledge and keep abreast of new knowledge. And this comes with the bonus of being able to catch up with old friends, make new friends, and just generally meet and socialize with other like-minded people.

I highly recommend making the time and the effort to attend such events if your are in the industry already.

You never know who you might meet!
