Cosmetex 2016Australians spend more than $350 million dollars annually on Cosmetic Surgery and treatments! In relation to our population, we spend more than Americans! With cosmetic procedures becoming such a popular addition to mainstream society, there has never been a better time to attend the Cosmetex Cosmetic Surgery and Medical Expo, hosted by the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery (ACCS), bringing together some of the world’s best practitioners in a contemporary educational forum.

Since 1999, Cosmetex has provided a unique forum where industry professionals can network and hear from leading experts, participate in hands-on learning workshops, and discover some of the latest innovations and techniques in order to increase their knowledge and skill to take back to their patients and consumers. I always enjoy Cosmetex. And 2016 was no different.

Last week’s release of cosmetic industry guidelines, by the Medical Board was really timely, so it was bound to be an interesting meet.

OMG there were so many highlights! Some of the amazing speakers included one of my favourites, the dynamic Dr Tahl Humes from Colorado in the US, who discussed Advanced Knowledge in Tattoo, Pigmentation and Vascular Treatments. Dr Humes is an expert consultant for Cutera, one of the leading device manufacturers in the industry, and she is a wealth of information on this and several other topics… her presentations are always full of information on how the technologies work and how to get the best results out of them.

There were speakers from all over the world bringing their knowledge and insights to the conference, but I was also aware that here in Australia we have some of the best. Dr Patrick Tansley from North East Plastic Surgery (with clinics in Victoria and Queensland) gave an especially interesting chat on Brow Lifts. Some of the other topics discussed were Can We Prevent Skin Aging, Advances in Fractional Resurfacing, Laser/IPL Regulations, PRP and Stem Cell Treatments, Fat Transfer and Skin Tightening with RF and Needling.

I was thrilled to meet with some old friends (who are not old!), meet some new ones, and feel like I was absorbing more knowledge and getting more ideas on what information is relevant to bring you, our community. Stay tuned for some upcoming vlogs on devices, products, doctors and more.

Thanks Cosmetex 16, another awesome event!!
