I absolutely love our closed FB group Plastic Surgery Support Forum for Aussie Chicks. It’s a supportive, nurturing and eye-opening place for patients to talk to each other, learn from each other and support each other. We have so many wonderful women in the group and I see and hear some beautiful things all the time, but there’s one in particular I wanted to share with you all. You’ll love Tony’s good advice regarding your plastic surgery.
“A few weeks ago a question was asked here about what advice those of us that have had reconstructive surgery what would we say to those still planning theirs… what advice would we give…? Well today a very good friend and I were having lunch after we’d both been to our check ups with our surgeon and we got to talking about what people expect from their reconstructive surgeries…. I think my number one piece of advice for those having it done is you have to not expect absolute perfection …those of us that have lost a lot of weight cannot realistically come out the end of this experience thinking we’re going to look like Elle Macpherson.
“Our surgeons are given a pretty rough canvas to work on and 99% of the time they do a fantastic job with what they’re given to work with… my friend and I were talking about those who have unrealistic expectations of what the outcome of their surgery is going to be; and then how they get annoyed and upset even abusive to the surgeon because it’s not the perfect picture they themselves had painted in their mind.
I think you have to be sensible in knowing that we did this to our bodies in the first place and these surgeons are doing their absolute best to fix what we broke and we have to be grateful for what they do… I know I sure as hell am…”
