If you ask almost anyone what physical trait makes someone beautiful, the answer you often hear back is eyes, or a great smile. You can never underestimate what a difference a gorgeous smile makes, and Emily had always wanted to fix hers.
Emily always had an overlap of her front tooth, which meant she always turned her head to a certain side when having her photo taken. She tells us her story about turning to Cosmetic Dentistry to assist her in changing her smile from average to brilliant!
Emily says, “It was always on my mind when people were up close talking to me, especially if they were focusing on my mouth when I spoke! I am getting married soon and my biggest fear was not relaxing in photos and it ruining my big day.
“I work in the health insurance field, so I hear stories on a daily basis on how expensive Invisalign can be; with health insurance not covering a great amount. In my mind being a 28 year old, typical braces were out of the question and the thought of paying thousands of dollars upfront for Invisalign was out of the question…”
This is where Emily was lucky to be a patient at BC Dental; in particular a dentist named Dr Valence Roberts (or Val to his patients!). We had heard Dr Roberts is an awesome dentist, but here’s what Emily had to say.
“I am lucky enough to visit an amazing practice – BC dental. Over the years, I told Val how I wanted to fix it ‘one day’ thinking that this would be something that would never eventuate; however Val started to discuss potential payment plans and assisting with making the idea a reality. I can honestly say it is the best thing I have ever done.”
Like most Plastic or Cosmetic Surgery or treatments, especially those that come with big rewards, sometimes the process can take months. This was true in Emily’s case. “The process for me took only 6 months, as I was so strict in following the guideline- only having them (Invisalign) off for 2 hours a day ensuring I had maximum impact.”
We love Emily’s before and after photos and think she looks beautiful! It really is quite amazing what upgrading your smile can do for your overall appearance. We wanted to ask Emily if she had any advice for others looking to fix their smile or teeth.
“My best advice for anyone looking at doing it is to follow the program – if you do you will get amazing results. Be selective with the insurance you choose, focus specifically on extras that allow you to claim a large benefit in one hit (always a 12 month wait). And most of all choose a good dentist, I was able to call Val at any point if I had questions or concerns, they were very supportive.”
This accessibility so important. Having access to your surgeon, practitioner, dentist or anyone else working on your body to ask questions or have easy follow up on any concerns you might have is probably one of the most important things to be able to do. It gives you that safety net after any procedure that you can ask questions, recover and heal the way you are supposed to.
So how does Emily love her smile now? Has it changed her life for the better? “Post Invisalign has been amazing. People always comment on my teeth and how straight and white they are – it’s such a great confidence boost. Opting for metal retainers that are glued on means my teeth won’t move back if I skip wearing night retainers – far more convenient. I will continue to take care of my teeth, opting for whitening and regular check-up and cleans; it has improved not only my teeth aesthetically, but health wise also.”
We completely agree with Emily. Finding the right dentist, especially for a cosmetic procedure, is just so important. It’s like finding a plastic surgeon. When it comes to aesthetics and improving yourself, we really don’t see the point unless you are undergoing the procedure with someone you can completely trust and know will do a great job.
When it comes to finding people to review Val at BC Dental we had no problem at all. He has raving reviews and everyone in his team is just so positive and supportive. This kind of dedication and teamwork only happens when you are surrounded by quality staff and a leader (or in this case dentist) who commands respect.
