Danielle has some really awesome results from her nose surgery and she was happy to share them with us. We asked her some questions about her rhinoplasty surgery, her surgeon Dr William Mooney, and what advice she’d give anyone looking to have a nose job.

PSH: What prompted you, or was your motivation to have plastic surgery?

Danielle: I had always been self-conscious about the size of my nose, particularly the side profile. I also had restricted breathing due to a deviated septum. After my consultation with Dr Mooney I knew it was the right decision for me and I couldn’t be happier with the result, both functionally and aesthetically.

PSH: What plastic surgery procedures did you have? Did they all run smoothly, and was there any unexpected trials along the way?

Danielle: Rhinoplasty and septoplasty. I have also had some injectable fillers in my lips, cheeks and chin to further enhance and create balance and proportion to my features. This was all done at Dr Mooney’s clinic and was performed very conservatively.

I experienced an extremely smooth recovery. I did have residual swelling that lasted for almost 6 months, but Dr Mooney was able to administer a few rounds of steroid injections to resolve this and my final result is perfect!

PSH: Looking back at your journey, is there anything you would have done differently, or any advice that you have for anyone looking at having similar surgeries?

Danielle: The only thing I would do differently is to have considered the procedure sooner, in my early twenties so I had more time to enjoy my beautiful nose!

PSH: Is there anything you wish you knew before the surgery, about researching surgeons or the actual surgery itself?

Danielle: I wasn’t aware how important it was to see an ENT specialist rather than a cosmetic or plastic surgeon for a rhinoplasty. Luckily Dr Mooney is an ENT so he was able to correct the function as well as the appearance of my nose.

PSH: Can you talk us through the actual procedure?

The procedure itself only took an hour, however I stayed overnight in hospital. I arrived to hospital an hour before the procedure and was very well looked after throughout my entire stay. My nose was broken to shave off the bump, but I had barely any pain after the procedure – I was just very tired and couldn’t breathe through my nose.

PSH: What surgeon did you have, and did you feel they did everything they should along the way?

Danielle: Dr William Mooney. He was extremely thorough, professional and made me feel like I was in the safest hands along the entire journey. He shared my delight and enthusiasm with the final result.

PSH: How was your recovery and is there anything you would pass on to other patients having similar surgery?

Danielle: I would advise other patients to be super realistic and very patient as your result can take up to 12 months to materialise! Also, follow all of the instructions given by your surgeon and your post-operative nurses. The way you take care of yourself post operatively greatly impacts your result.

PSH: How do you feel now in comparison to how you felt before your surgery?

Danielle: I am over the moon confident with my new look.

PSH: How did your family and friends react to your surgery?

Danielle: Friends and family were concerned that my new nose would not suit my face or that I would look completely different. Much to the contrary, I still look like myself just a better and more feminine version. I have had very positive feedback from others – although my only motivation for surgery was to feel better within myself so the opinion of others was not of too much importance.

PSH: How has your quality of life/self esteem/happiness levels changed? What changes to your life do you see happening now that you’ve had your surgery?

Danielle: One word: CONFIDENCE. It had honestly affected the way I feel every day of my life. I am happier and have a newfound zest for life!
