TRISH: We’re here today at the Non Surgical Symposium for 2015 and I’m talking to Catherine Biedermann who’s from Advanced Cosmeceuticals. We’re going to be talking about the Petit Lady Action II. Now Catherine, can you tell us a little bit about this new release Erbium laser?

CATHERINE: The Action II Petit Lady is used for vaginal tightening, vaginal rejuvenation, vaginal incontinence and can also be used for rejuvenation of the labia.

TRISH: OK, so it’s not only internal, but it’s external as well?

CATHERINE: Yes, it can tighten and rejuvenate the labia. That usually happens together when you do the vaginal tightening or rejuvenation.

TRISH: OK, has there been a lot of treatments done so far? What has been the feedback so far?

CATHERINE: The feedback has been very, very encouraging; very positive. It is a treatment that is desired by many, many women. We kind of got a bit taken by surprise on the feedback of women wanting to know more about the treatment. There is such a big need.

TRISH: Right and it’s not something we talk about freely but once you start talking to people about it I’ve found that everybody wants to know about it.

CATHERINE: That’s very true. Yes, we found that with younger mothers after having two children or so, they need a bit of tightening, and they talk to the other mothers at school, and all of a sudden there’s a whole group that opens up and talks. But it’s obviously not just for the young after birth; it’s very good for more mature ladies too.

TRISH: OK so where’s the benefit for a more mature lady, say someone who is pre or post menopausal; where’what’s it going to help them with?

CATHERINE: Firstly, a lot of women after giving birth, they do experience more laxity – so that can be straight after giving birth, or can be later. It’s also the ageing of tissue and loss of collagen that leads to a lack of elasticity and tightness, so it’s fantastic to help with that issue; but then, also the urinary incontinence which affects a lot of women – young and mature. For the mature women, they also often want to have the outside treated, just to “pretty it up” a bit, and tighten.

TRISH: So, if I suffer, say if I have a giggle or a laugh or whatever, and have a little bit of an accident, is this going to help?

CATHERINE: Yes, exactly.

TRISH: I believe that one in two women have that problem, after childbirth.

CATHERINE: Yes, that’s correct.

TRISH: So tell me, how long does the treatment take, and is it painful?

CATHERINE: It’s not painful, especially because we work with a laser that’s an Erbium Yag – that is absorbed by water; it’s got the highest absorption in water, so it’s also very safe and it’s more or less pain free.

The treatment takes about 15 minutes depending on.. do you also treat the outside or do you just do the tightening? But, about 15 minutes – very, very little pain; it’s more like a discomfort at times, and downtime is about 2 hours, so you have a bit of a hot burning sensation that settles down and after a couple of hours you’re fine.

TRISH: So you don’t need any numbing cream?

CATHERINE: No, nothing like that.

TRISH: After the procedure, how long before you can perhaps have sex after the treatment.

CATHERINE: Basically, you can have intercourse straight away or the same day, however we do recommend to maybe wait a day, a couple of days but yes, it’s more or less immediately.

TRISH: So, straight away, or try and wait a day if you can! So, when should someone have the treatment – in their cycle?

CATHERINE: No, you want to make sure that you don’t go through the period cycle, and ideally not a couple of days before because sometimes your period might actually set in earlier, so it’s best because of the absorption of water, and blood is essentially water, so you don’t want to have anything competing with your water content, so it’s definitely not wise to go through it when you have your period.

TRISH: That makes a lot of sense. So, one last question: if someone has had a caesarian or a hysterectomy of anything like that should they not have it done, or is it ok for everyone?

CATHERINE: It’s more or less ok for everyone because it’s such a safe treatment therapy, it’s safer than other laser types, so with erbium yag it’s very safe to have it done at any age, at any stage during your menstrual, pre or post menopause, after birth. So very very safe.

TRISH: Great, so I’ve found out everything that I want to know, so if you’ve got any questions or you’re looking for a practitioner that has the Petit Lady Action II, just drop us a line on info@plasticsurgeryhub.com.au or click on the link below this video.
