The Excel V device uses pulses of light energy to coagulate the blood within the veins and destroys the vessel which the body then reabsorbs. The practitioner places the Excel V handpiece on the targeted area of skin with the visible veins until the abnormal vessels disappear. Excel V has a built in cooling mechanism and as such the treatment is completely tolerable and does not require topical anaesthesia or injections.

Risks and Complications
  • Slight reddening of the skin
  • Swelling of the skin
  • Bruising on some patients
  • Blistering on some patients.

These side effects are rare and only occur on a handful of patients.

Q. When do we see results?

A. Results are immediate.

Q. Is the treatment painful?

A. Some may feel a stinging sensation while the pulses of energy are transported through the hand piece. For those who have very low pain tolerance a local anesthesia or numbing cream may be applied, though these are rarely required. After the treatment, the patient may feel minimal pain.

Q. How many treatments are required?

A. It usually requires one to two treatments to produce the desired results. However depending on the number, colour and size of the vessels to be treated, they may require more treatments.

Q. How is the Excel V compared to other kinds of treatment?

A. Excel V can be customised according to the patient requirements. It has various wavelengths and laser spot sizes to ensure that the areas wished to be treated are precisely targeted.

Q. How long does each treatment last?

A. Each treatment should only take 15 to 30 minutes per session.

Cutera devices game changer Even Kendall Jenner gets acne – and knows how to get rid of it July 26, 2018 - It is suggested that up to 85% of us may get acne in one way, shape or form during our lifetime. Most of us will remember our puberty years when we would wake up to the horror sight of a pimple or two on our faces as we look in the mirror to get ready for school. However, for some it can be a more serious skin condition. It is also not restricted to teenagers with many adults carrying the issue into their 20’s and beyond. There are so many skin treatments available nowadays but one of them is particularly good for getting rid of acne. The Excel V by Cutera is used by clinics around Australia and gets some amazing results, even on those cases that may not have been treatable with other methods. Why do we get acne? A person’s genetics is the biggest factor when looking at why they might get acne, however there are many other contributors such as: Puberty Poor nutrition – a bad diet with lots of sugar and processed foods is the best way to bring on the pimples Stress Overweight Pregnancy Stress During menstruation (yep, us girls will notice that pimples have […]
Excel V for Veins Leg Veins – How You Can Get Rid of Them With Excel V December 6, 2017 - It’s that time of the year when I start noticing all my skin imperfections on my legs that I’ve mostly hidden during winter with long pants, long skirts, tights and the like. One of the things that seem to get more noticeable each year are the veins on my legs. I get a little stressed for a minute thinking how I must be getting old, but then I remember that there’s a way to get rid of them! I’ve told you about the Excel V by Cutera before, but it’s time for a summer reminder! What are veins? There are different types of veins and we all have them. Some are more noticeable than others, especially when they pop up on our face, or on our legs. When we live in a tropical and subtropical environment like Australia where during summer we wear as little clothes as possible, these more noticeable veins can be a real nuisance and cause of embarrassment. The ones on our face are called facial telangiectasia. These are little capillaries and are usually caused by genetics and too much sun exposure. The ones on our legs are spider veins, blue veins or reticular veins. There are […]
Dr Jeffery Hsu Excel V Dr Jeffrey Hsu talks Excel V and Veins April 3, 2017 - Trish: I’m here today with Dr. Jeffrey Hsu, who’s a specialist dermatologist based in Chicago in the USA, and we’re going to have a talk about the Excel V and treatment for lasers, so just to give you, for all the viewers out there who want to know about lasers for veins. Thank you so much for taking the time today. Dr. Jeffrey Hsu: Well, thank you very much, Trish, for asking me to be here. Trish: Pleasure. I watched your presentation before, and I’m really intrigued. I’ve got veins myself, and it’s like “Where do I start? What do I do?” Can you tell us a little bit about the Excel V and where that fits in and who that would suit? Dr. Jeffrey Hsu: Right, right. Well, the first thing that people ask me usually is what to do about the veins on their face. Usually the little capillaries, or what we call telangiectasia, around the nose and on the cheeks… usually from too much sun exposure on skin that’s usually what we call skin type I and II, which is usually Caucasian skin. Over time, and this is none of your fault, this is purely based on […]

ExcelV Veins, Skin Issues? We may have the solution… September 21, 2016 - Veins are something many of us have, but until now there hasn’t really been an effective way to deal with them. The Excel V is a treatment we’ve told you about before but in the lead up to another hot Australian summer where we start baring our bodies, we thought now was a great time to start looking at it again. The exciting thing about Excel V is that it also deals with a variety of other skin conditions, including acne. We wanted to get an expert opinion on the Excel V and why it has such a great reputation as the go-to laser. Dr Sean Arendse from Flawless Rejuvenation in Melbourne has the Excel V in his clinic and was kind enough to answer some questions for us. PSH: Excel V is used to treat veins. Does it work on all types of veins, ie. spider veins, reticular veins etc. and does it vary from patient to patient? Dr Sean: The Excel V is Excellent in treating most types of veins with consistent results, safely and across most skin types. The 532 wavelength is excellent at dealing with facial telangiectasia, and the 1064 wavelength laser is great with spider […]
Excel V Laser Excel V Laser June 7, 2016 - Trish: Okay. I’m here today today with Mark from Cutera. We’re going to talk about the Excel V Laser, which is all for vascular conditions, veins, that sort of thing. So thanks Mark! Mark: Yeah, you’re welcome. Trish: So tell us about Excel V. What’s that good for? Mark: Okay. So the Excel V was designed by dermatologists for dermatology and cosmetic procedures and practices. It’s a vascular laser, dual wavelengths. It’s got a 532 and 1064 wavelengths. 532 is for doing superficial vascular, and pigmentation concerns including hyperderma and rosacea. The 1064 you’re going to do anything from larger Telangiectasia on the face right down to 3-3.5 mm reticular leg veins. It also has a second hand piece that you can do your propriety laser genesis program, skin rejuvenation. Trish: Right. Face? Mark: Yep. You can do face, you can do neck, you can do chest. You can do pigmaderma as well with the laser genesis and the diffuse redness. So you’re actually rejuvenating the skin. So turning fibroblasts into collagen. Therefore you’ll get reduction in fine lines, reduce crow’s feet, tighten up skin pores. Just generally it’s great for a wide range of procedures, right down to toenail […]
Cutera In Who Do We Trust? We Turn Our Attention to the Companies Behind the Devices… May 16, 2016 - There’s been a lot of media and publicity lately on dodgy practitioners and the dangers of getting substandard results when having laser, light or injectable treatments. What we haven’t focussed on yet is the actual technologies and machines these practitioners are using when getting their dodgy results. As with practitioners, there are dodgy technology companies copying and trying to make a buck; and then there are the genuine, quality companies producing innovative and top of the range technologies that are transforming the non-surgical aesthetic industry. There are a few companies to look at but we’ll start at the top. Cutera are definitely one of the best and most well-respected. Having been founded by veteran laser and optical engineers in 1998, they are at the forefront of the medical aesthetic industry with devices that deliver high performance results with a focus on safety and patient satisfaction. Pioneers of the industry, Cutera focus their designs around the needs of their customers and constantly develop new devices and solutions based on a combination of new scientific discoveries and what the practitioners using their machines are demanding. The engineers who founded Cutera actually developed the first Nd YAG laser, which all other lasers from […]

A SOLUTION FOR ROSACEA! Have you tried EXCEL V yet? October 12, 2015 - Rosacea is a facial skin inflammation that appears as a redness or permanent blush or rash. Generally seen across the nose and cheeks, it can spread all over the face and neck depending on the severity and is caused when the small, surface capillaries of the skin enlarge, causing sensitivity and sometimes a burning or stinging sensation. Pimples with yellow or white heads can also appear, as well as lumps under the skin and/or mildly swollen cheeks or nose (also known as hyperplasia). Rosacea is a skin condition that generally develops in both men and women, usually between the ages of 30 to 50 (although there are cases of onset in teenage years during puberty), and although is considered genetic also has various triggers such as alcohol, overheating, coffee and tea, spicy foods and overexposure to the sun, as well as various emotional concerns such as stress and anxiety. Just to add another possibility, some researchers are convinced it may be the result of microscopic mites living in the pores of your skin! Regardless of the cause, it is a condition that can cause discomfort and self-consciousness and many sufferers look for a cure. It is generally agreed that the […]
ExcelV Treatment My Leg Vein Treatment with ExcelV Laser April 29, 2015 - Unsightly leg veins! They are something you dread when you are younger but for so many of us, mostly women, it is unavoidable and just one of the natural occurrences of ageing. I have had many treatments on my leg veins over the years. First it was for some minor spider veins using sclerotherapy, right up to vein stripping in both legs. After the stripping some 10 years ago everything seemed to settle down for a while… but then the dreaded veins began to appear again. About 18 months ago, I became more self conscious about the cluster of veins that appeared on the right side of my leg just above my knee. Having put it off, and put it off, I decided to investigate into what was available in the cosmetic world that was quick and, more importantly, “painless”. After searching through the internet I came across the ExcelV Laser treatment which I hadn’t heard of before but, based on everything I read about it, seemed to be the right course of treatment. I booked in with Dr John Flynn, a cosmetic practitioner on the Gold Coast. I felt comfortable in the knowledge that he has over 20 years […]
Cutera University Cutera University – leading the way February 25, 2015 - Cutera is a company leading the way with new technology and innovations in laser and radio frequency devices. They have a range of products on the market that are considered some of the best in the industry. It was for these reasons that I was really excited to be attending the Cutera University Clinical Forum held in Sydney recently, where the world first and only dual wavelength and dual pulse duration laser system “enLIGHTen” was being launched into Australia. What is the enLIGHTen? It’s a Picosecond + Nanosecond laser system, for tattoo removal and the treatment of benign pigmented lesions. Check out this bloggers experience with it – amazing results with just 1 session already!! Not only did I learn heaps about the actual devices Cutera has developed, but I was surrounded by expert surgeons and practitioners just as passionate as I am about the cosmetic industry all weekend! Some of the topics discussed included laser physics and safety, difficult to treat patients, short pulse lasers (for tattoo removal and pigment discolouration treatment) and combination therapies (this is a really interesting topic that I will be writing more about in the near future so keep an eye out!). Also discussed […]
Excel V Laser Cutera Excel V Laser Vein Treatment January 15, 2015 - Recently I spoke about the treatment of varicose veins and spider veins. I mentioned that there are a number of treatments available… particularly in regards to laser treatments. One of those laser treatments is the Cutera Excel V laser which includes three treatment modes that enable physicians to treat more vascular conditions, from small superficial vessels to large vascular lesions. The laser works by sending pulses of light energy into the veins which cause the blood to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel which is later reabsorbed by the body … But don’t worry your body is pretty smart. The blood flow will just be redirected to veins further below the surface of the skin. It is worth noting that a number of treatments may be needed for the vein to completely disappear. If your body does develop new veins in the same place after treatment than note that the laser cannot prevent this. This means you may have a symptom that is not so superficial and should be checked on by your doctor. Results are visible in 2 to 6 weeks. But the most significant results can be visible up to 3 months later. The Excel V is also successful […]
