The Excel V device uses pulses of light energy to coagulate the blood within the veins and destroys the vessel which the body then reabsorbs. The practitioner places the Excel V handpiece on the targeted area of skin with the visible veins until the abnormal vessels disappear. Excel V has a built in cooling mechanism and as such the treatment is completely tolerable and does not require topical anaesthesia or injections.

Risks and Complications
  • Slight reddening of the skin
  • Swelling of the skin
  • Bruising on some patients
  • Blistering on some patients.

These side effects are rare and only occur on a handful of patients.

Q. When do we see results?

A. Results are immediate.

Q. Is the treatment painful?

A. Some may feel a stinging sensation while the pulses of energy are transported through the hand piece. For those who have very low pain tolerance a local anesthesia or numbing cream may be applied, though these are rarely required. After the treatment, the patient may feel minimal pain.

Q. How many treatments are required?

A. It usually requires one to two treatments to produce the desired results. However depending on the number, colour and size of the vessels to be treated, they may require more treatments.

Q. How is the Excel V compared to other kinds of treatment?

A. Excel V can be customised according to the patient requirements. It has various wavelengths and laser spot sizes to ensure that the areas wished to be treated are precisely targeted.

Q. How long does each treatment last?

A. Each treatment should only take 15 to 30 minutes per session.
