Pastelle Q-Switched Nd:YAG Laser

Pastelle LaserThe number one advantage of the Pastelle laser that sets it above the rest is the lack of side effects it produces. Most laser toning has a number of side effects, including reoccurrence of pigments and partial de-pigmentation, but Pastelle drastically reduces these side effects as well as the pain. Patients who have used this device say there is no pain; just a warm sensation.

The Pastelle Laser specialises in the general treatment of pigmentation, toning, acne, acne scarring, tattoo removal and many more procedures, as well as performing soft laser peel and Free Running (FR) peel for treating wrinkles and enlarged pores. The Pastelle Laser is so versatile in treatments because it comes with three major modes and wavelengths; 1064nm, 532nm and the additional FR mode.

Here’s the difference:-

  • 1064nm laser treats pigmented lesions in the dermal layer of the skin – this includes treatments such as tattoo removal and melasma.
  • 532nm laser works in shorter wavelengths, its high melanin absorption characteristics enable it to treat pigmented lesions in the epidermal, such as freckles and age spots.
  • FR mode – is a rapid free flower laser – great for the treatment of anti-ageing signs such as wrinkles, pore size and whitening.

Tattoo Removal

The Pastelle Q-switch laser has been revered as the new gold standard for tattoo removal. The twin pulse ensures there is no excessive energy delivered per pulse, which can cause burns and other unwanted laser complications. It is also renowned for removing tattoos faster after fewer treatments, and also being able to remove black ink.

Features of the Pastelle Q-Switched Nd: YAG Laser

Photoacoustic Twin Pulse (PTP) – The PTP mode provides little to no side effects and a quicker operation; so much more comfortable for the patient.

Auto Calibration – This quick and easy to use auto-calibration provides precise and stable energy.

Factional Hand Piece – The optional Factional Hand Piece that can come with the Pastelle Q-Switched Nd: YAG Laser decreases thermal damage in the dermis and allows for quicker healing and recovery time.

How does it work?

Laser removal of pigmented lesions works by destroying the pigment in the skin without the need for excision.

This process in completed in 3 simple steps:

Step 1 – LIGHT ABSORPTION:
The laser produces short nanosecond pulses of intense light that pass harmlessly through the top layers of the skin to be selectively absorbed by the melanin pigment in the lesion.

Step 2 – PIGMENT BREAK-UP:
The laser light is transformed into photoacoustic waves which mechanically break up the melanin pigment into smaller particles.

Step 3 – PIGMENT REMOVAL:
These particles are then removed by the body’s own immune system, as the skin’s macro-phages clear the excess pigment from the area.

Other Treatments & Benefits of Pastelle Laser

  • Freckles
  • Age spots
  • Sun spots, epidermal pigmentation, dermal pigmentation
  • Tattoo removal
  • Acne scarring, acne & pore size
  • Reduction of uneven skin colour
  • Hair removal
  • Laser toning

Depending on what the Pastelle laser is treating at the time it works just like many other lasers used for those particular treatments.

Performed by a qualified practitioner, including plastic surgeon, cosmetic surgeon, doctor or skin care professional.

The practitioner may treat wrinkles around the eyes, mouth or forehead individually, or treat your entire face. For small areas the practitioner will numb the areas to be treated with a local anaesthetic and may also sedate you.

Treating just parts of the face takes about 30 to 45 minutes. A full-face treatment can take up to two hours.

Tattoo Removal

The Pastelle laser sends pulses of light directly into the tattoo, this then breaks up the tattoo pigment. Tattoo ink and natural pigmentation like melanin absorb the short pulse duration/high peak energy Q-switched pulses so quickly that they create a photo-acoustic effect within the pigment clusters. This effect breaks down the ink into much smaller particles that can be more easily removed by the body’s natural filtering system.

Depending on how big the tattoo is the treatment may only take a couple of minutes.

It is recommended with all tattoo removal procedures that you stay out of the sun, and keep it covered and clean for a short period of time after the laser procedure.

Risks and Complications

As this laser features the PTP technology there are hardly any risks or complications involved. With some of the treatments you may find minor swelling and redness but this will disappear after a short amount of time.

As for tattoo removal, it is normal to experience a small amount of what is called pin point bleeding just after your procedure.
