Breast Reduction and Private Health Cover

Q & A’sCategory: BreastBreast Reduction and Private Health Cover

I have an 18yr old daughter who is a ‘G’ cup. She regularly suffers from back, shoulder and neck pain. She also has regular migraines. She often wears two sports bras during the day as she is very self conscious about her breast size. She is a size 12 around the waist which makes her breasts look out of proportion to the rest of her body. I have medibank private health smart plus insurance. I am looking for a reputable plastic surgeon in the Sydney metro area who is gap covered. Can you recommend anybody? And will medibank private and Medicare cover the cost?
Thank you

Hi Lisa, I understand completely. My breast reduction was the best thing I ever did. There are some¬†wonderful plastic surgeons in Sydney. Here is a link to them. We suggest you arrange a consult with at least two (if not three or four) to see who you and your feel most comfortable with, and you’ll also be able to compare prices and enquire about whether they can assist you with Medicare cover. Private health insurance may or may not cover the cost… it really depends on what cover you have. You will need to contact your health insurance provider to check.
Best of luck to your daughter on her journey, and I hope she has as much relief from her surgery as I did with mine.
