Breast Reduction Size 14E Boobs

Q & A’sCategory: BreastBreast Reduction Size 14E Boobs

Hi, I am currently only 16 years old but my boobs have grown rapidly since the last three years and now they’re to a point where i am really not happy with them and it’s embarrassing because they droop and they’re so big that i get back pain and neck pain from how big they are and how i can’t handle the weight of them. Is there any way I can get a breast reduction and a lift cheaper than an arm and a leg? Does medicare cover these costs? Can you even get a breast reduction at 16 with parental permission? I don’t want people telling me to wait till i’m older or that i’m being silly because i’m not. I can even do normal physical activities because of self concision i am and they HURT every time I work out or even walk faster than normal! I wear supportive bras but that doesn’t help me at all. I’ve put a lot of time and thought into this so i’d like to be considered seriously.

Hi Ashleigh
Although there is a Medicare item number for breast reduction (45520), there are very few hospitals that allow them to be performed in the public sector. You will almost certainly need to have your procedure performed privately, and there will be a gap even if you have top level health cover.
At 16 years old, you are able to provide consent for a surgical procedure, but most surgeons will want your parents to co-sign your consent. As of the beginning of October 2016, you will need to wait out a 3 month cooling off period, and may need to discuss your request with a psychologist.
Please consider the impact of seeing any doctor other than a Specialist Plastic Surgeon – all of us have had to fix botched jobs from ‘cosmetic’ doctors that end up costing the patient much more than a single operation with a fully qualified Specialist Plastic Surgeon would have.
Good Luck
