Can birthmarks be surgically removed? I have tried getting my birthmark lasered off and have been unsuccessful and am looking for alternative methods but every plastic surgeon website I visit does not offer much info on the removal of a birthmark.

Thanks for your question. There are different kinds of birthmarks, and the treatment varies depending on what type of brithmark you have. Laser can be successful for some types. Other birthmarks may need more invasive treatments, like sclerotherapy, embolization or surgery. The extent of the surgery depends of the extent of the birthmark, but, obviously all surgery does involve some form of scarring.
I think you should make an appointment to see your friendly local plastic surgeon so they take a good look at the size and location of your birthmark, and advise whether surgery would help.
