Stella’s Story- Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and Liposuction

“It’s when you put your clothes on and go out you either feel better or you don’t. I mean how many people see you naked? It’s not about being in a bikini, it’s about just putting on some jeans and feeling comfortable going out with your friends.”

Stella is 45 years year and achieved a phenomenal weightloss of over 60kg by drastically changing her food and lifestyle choices.

Extremely proud and excited by her weightloss, Stella found that what she was left with was an abundance of loose excess folds of skin. The excess folds of skin started to become infected because the skin was unable to breath with the lack of air, particularly around her belly button. Her doctor advised she have an Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), as the infections she was getting could lead to a blood infection. During surgery Stella’s doctor also performed liposuction.

The recovery went well. Stella took 6 weeks off work to recuperate. Prior to having her tummy tuck Stella spent plenty of time researching the procedure, she knew exactly what she had to do, she had to simply rest, eat well, drink plenty of water and get plenty of sleep.

Because of this extra care Stella endured no complications after the surgery. She was grateful for the wonderful support provided by her family

Stella said that leading up to the surgery she did feel guilty spending the money but it had to be done for medical reasons and at the end of the day it’s about doing what is going to make you feel good about yourself.

“It’s when you put your clothes on and go out you either feel better or you don’t. I mean how many people see you naked? It’s not about being in a bikini, it’s about you just putting on some jeans and feeling comfortable going out with your friends. The surgery was for medical purposes but what came out was emotional.”

Stella’s determination with weight loss and her experience with plastic surgery is an inspiration to anyone looking to lose weight in order to gain a healthier lifestyle and feel good about their body. Her story also illustrates the importance of knowing as much as possible about the surgical procedure you are having done. Knowing more about what you are about to go through, will improve both the healing process and your ability to choose the surgeon and procedure that is right for you.

Thanks Stella, you are a true inspiration!!
