“At the time of the surgery I was unhappy with the result because the surgeon didn’t take out as much as I asked. He also didn’t listen when we talked about post op procedure. I mentioned I was allergic to tapes, ending up not being able to use them and having horrible keloid scars. 10 year later I still have very visible scars.”

Ten years ago when Tory was 21 she had a bilateral breast reduction and lift, as she had size 12-E cup breasts they caused her immense strain and pressure on her neck and back. She wanted a C cup as she knew she wanted to have children and like her mother before her whom had to have a breast reduction after she had Tory, Tory didn’t want her breast to grow too much more. Her large breasts also forced her to buy clothing that was sometimes as big as a size 16 so that her breasts would fit in. “Not fun when you want to go out and party and nothing fits” said Tory, who is now a size 14D.

Back then there weren’t many options on the Sunshine Coast for plastic surgeons. Tory says that she was disappointed with the results, as the surgeon did not take out as much as she had asked for. She wanted a C cup and ended up with a D. Tory has also been left with a lot of scarring as she is allergic to the glue on the tape used on scars post surgery to ensure scarring is less prominent. She discussed this with the surgeon but he didn’t quite listen to her and ended up using a compression bandage which she had to use for up to 6 weeks after the surgery. Now she is left with large red keloid scars. Due to the amount of scarring, she suffered from scar twinges 2-3 years post surgery.

Tory also added she can’t wear demi cup bras because the surgeon placed her nipples too high. Overall though she is happy she had the procedure done, the surgeon did take an extra kilo off her back and neck creating a nice hourglass shape and fulfilled the general purpose of getting the stress of the extra weight off her neck. The best part of the procedure she says was not having to wear a bra for up to a year post operation.

The surgery cost her $4000 from a private hospital, as it was a necessary procedure for her neck and back. The recovery was a one-night stay in hospital and after 6 weeks she was able to lie on her stomach again.

“I had the surgery whilst I was on university holidays. I was lucky enough to go home and have mum take care of me whilst I was recovering.” Tory explained.

After being asked if she would go back and do it again, Tory replied;

“if I got large enough and it started hurting, not for aesthetic reasons. God yeah!”
