Well, it’s a new year and there’s not much more that can be said about 2020 that hasn’t already been said. While at Plastic Surgery Hub, we welcome 2021, we can honestly report that for us as a team – and many of our subscribers and advertisers, not all of 2020 was bad.

Based in Australia, I think we all got to realise how lucky we are to be Australians during the first global pandemic in 100 years. We pulled together as a country – almost like no other country – and the results speak for themselves. It would be fair to say that living in Australia is top of most of our fellow Australians gratitude list.

Another interesting aspect about 2020 was the lockdown period. Obviously, this hurt some businesses and individuals, and there’s some recovery to come for sure and for many Australians, especially our Melbourne friends who bore the biggest load.

But interestingly, for the aesthetic industry sector as a whole – and especially for plastic surgeons, 2020 was a boom year, AKA the Zoom Boom year. We all saw ourselves a lot more, in fact more than any time in human history, whether it was on zoom cameras or in your mirror at home during lockdown. And, the evidence and demand for treatments and surgery is telling us, that what many of us saw – was an opportunity for improvement – and what’s not to love about that?

The year 2021 will probably still have some sting in its tail, certainly for many other countries, and there’s probably going to be the occasional Covid-19 outbreak in Australia, but more than likely it will be contained and contained quickly. We’re getting better at it – and learning from our mistakes. And whether that’s a national response or a personal growth response to 2020, learning from your mistakes means you’re: A. Trying and B. Smart and resilient – and that’s always a good thing.

But, what we do know about 2021, is there’s light at the end of the tunnel, in the form of vaccines. Australia is in a super great position; we can afford to sit back for at least a few months and see what vaccines are safest and most effective. Again, another win for Australians.

So, what are we looking forward to for 2021 at Plastic Surgery Hub? We have some exciting new projects in the works and some new partnerships that are only going to add to our offering for our readers and followers. We want to always improve and offer you the most up-to-date and accurate industry information, honest appraisals and recommendations, as well as providing you with a platform – for you to share your journey with us and other followers.
