Vaser Liposuction is being heralded as a less traumatic and less invasive form of liposuction extremely effective and useful in areas that would not be as successfully contoured by the traditional methods of liposuction. Dr David Chin, based in Auchenflower and Caboolture in QLD, is the first Queensland plastic surgeon to have a VASER liposuction machine in his practice and has over five years experience with the procedure. We were able to chat to him and ask about this new development in liposuction that is getting awesome results.
Firstly though, let’s briefly look at what is involved in traditional liposuction. Deeper layers of fatty tissue are injected by an anaesthetic called Lignocaine and saline; a cannula (thin, hollow tube-like apparatus) is then inserted through a small incision and worked back and forward in order to break down the fat; which is then suctioned out to create a more contoured shape in the desired area.
So, how does this differ to VASER liposuction and why is VASER considered a superior option? Dr Chin says, “The VASER liposuction uses ultrasound wave energy to “shake off” fat cells during liposuction. This results in less force used and a much less painful recovery period and bruising. However, the principal benefit is this “ultrasound energy” also tightens or contracts the skin, producing a much better end result after liposuction and contouring.”
Advantages of VASER Liposuction:
- Uses sound wave energy to break down the fat;
- Less invasive;
- Uses a lighter anaesthesia;
- Helps to tighten the skin as opposed to traditional liposuction creating more loose skin if anything;
- Less downtime and better recovery.

Can Vaser liposuction done on the chin,arms?
As far as I understand it’s as per ‘regular’ lipo.

As someone who has experienced both traditional and vaser liposuction procedures I am secure in my position believing that vaser is the superior option. It is touted as being less invasive but until you have experienced both you cant fully grasp what that means. What I found it meant was a much faster recovery time and considerably less pain and discomfort during that time. This technology in the very capable and experienced hands of Dr Chin gave me the results I was hoping for and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for the same.
Liposuction is totally safe. One of my friend has gone through this procedure and she is totally fit.
