If you were to ask Delta Goodrem, Danni Minogue, Sophie Monk, Naomi Campbell or Kate Waterhouse who does their eyebrows… they’d all tell you, Amy Jean.

Amy Jean has been shaping and perfectly crafting brows to perfection. Her first Eye Couture Boutique was opened at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast in 2004. Since then Amy Jean has expanded to six salons across Australia, including Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth; and another four pop-up salons in exclusive locations in New York, Paris, Milan and Los Angeles.

Amy Jean’s latest venture in Sydney

Amy Jean’s latest venture; her PRIVÉE boutique located in Sydney with stunning views over Hyde Park, is said by Amy to be the absolute ultimate in luxury and the most indulgent yet. An exclusive space aimed at high profile and loyal clientele, you’d be lucky to get in past a sometimes over six months waiting list.

“It’s not just about leaving with intricately hand-crafted brows and look-at-me lashes,” says Amy Jean. “Amy Jean Privée is a total escape into beauty heaven the moment you step inside.”

Any one of the eyebrow technicians Amy Jean employs at her salons have been handpicked and trained by Amy Jean herself, and I was lucky enough to experience QLD Director Monique Deveney at the original Amy Jean sanctuary at the gorgeous Palazzo Versace Hotel on the Gold Coast.

Let me tell you, Monique is my new favourite beauty person. Besides the fact that the whole experience was divine and indulgent, the results of my visit are awesome. I had the Feather Touch Brow Tattoo and I LOVE MY BROWS. I didn’t think it could make such a huge difference, but the confidence that comes from having flawlessly shaped and coloured brows is really great.

Feather Touch Brow Tattoo

The actual Feather Touch brow tattoo involves the brow artist using a “micro-blade” technique where a fine blade is etched along the skin to mimic fine hair strokes. Some artists also use a tattoo machine with a “nano-needle” with a needle almost as thin as an acupuncture needle. This second method is more suitable to oilier skin types as it holds the pigment more effectively.

“This semi-permanent technique transforms sparse brows into perfectly symmetrical arches. Brows can be subtly coloured or completely remodelled because each brow strand is intricately etched by hand – the result is a true work of art,” says Amy Jean.

The whole process takes around an hour to an hour and a half including 20 mins anaesthetic time beforehand – this is a topic gel. It doesn’t really hurt and the anaesthetic is continually applied throughout the procedure.

I understand the colour lasts around one to two years then one can return for a ‘refresh’ – depending on your skin type. Apparently oilier skin breaks down the pigments at a faster rate.

Natural Brow Results

Amy Jean and her team are experts at working with your natural brow shape and colour. They tend to steer away from the latest “fads” which go in and out of fashion. A well-shaped and coloured brow that suits your face is always going to look classy and better than a passing trend that may or may not suit your face. Amy Jean and her team are truly the Masters when it comes to knowing what’s going to suit you and your face.
