Enlighten - Laser Pigmentation & Tattoo Removal System

EnlightenEnlighten by Cutera is a breakthrough Pico + Nano technology – a dual wavelength (1064 nm + 532 nm) and dual pulse duration (750 ps + 2 ns) laser pigmentation and tattoo removal system. Recently released in Australia, it is fast gaining a reputation as the go-to procedure for pigmentation and tattoo removal.

Featuring class-leading treatment parameters and customisation it is also used for the treatment of benign pigmented lesions.

The Enlighten has an all-in-one picosecond and nanosecond platform and is able to independently adjust spot size and fluence in real-time calibration without delay. It is able to treat a broad range of spot sizes (2-8mm) and is achieving results not seen before by any tattoo removal method.

What does this mean for those of us without a tech head and not much knowledge of laser nm’s the meaning of pulse duration? It means efficient tattoo removal for the common tattoo colours with a high safety margin on all skin types, and treatment (or removal) of benign pigmented lesions.

The Enlighten Pico laser is optimised for efficient and easy use. It has instant and independent adjustment of spot-size, wavelength and repetition rate, with the highest pulse energies in its class (up to 3x greater energy), which enables individualised patient treatments.

Similar to other lasers when it comes to the actual procedure and process of the treatment, the results from the Enlighten, especially when it comes to tattoo removal, are being seen as revolutionary. The results are speaking for themselves (see photos and read our blogs).

Enlighten also features a smart 12.1” touchscreen that’s simple to navigate and a quick 2 minute start-up time with real-time parameter calibration, enabling quick treatments.

Q. What wavelengths does Enlighten use?

A. Enlighten incorporates two wavelengths, 1064nm and 532 nm. These wavelengths were chosen because of their versatility in treating tattoo ink colours and benign pigmented conditions, offering the safest and most effective treatment solutions for all skin types.

Q. What pulse durations are available on Enlighten?

A. Enlighten is the first device in its class to incorporate two pulse durations, 750 picoseconds and 2 nanoseconds. With the ability to choose between picosecond and nanosecond pulse durations, practitioners can choose the ideal pulse for the targeted condition. This increases the versatility of conditions that Enlighten can treat. There is no other single device on the market that incorporates this capability.

Q. Are there different handpieces for the different wavelengths or pulse durations?

A. No, Enlighten has a motorized zoom handpiece that delivers the full range of spot sizes.

Q. How well do patients tolerate the Enlighten treatment?

A. Enlighten treatments are similar to Q-switched treatments. In a side- by-side study comparing Enlighten with Q-switched laser for comfort and treatment results, 100% of respondents preferred Enlighten.

Dr Jeffery Hsu on Enlighten enLighten – Not just the best tattoo removal device on the market… with Dr Jeffrey Hsu March 23, 2017 - Trish: I’m here today with Dr Jeffrey Hsu and he’s actually a specialist dermatologist from Chicago and we’re going to have a bit of a chat about the Pico technology from Cutera for skin rejuvenation ‘cause what I thought was that it was a tattoo removal machine, but it’s actually a whole lot more, so thank you for taking the time. Dr Hsu: Thank you for being here. Trish: So tell us about it, I’m really excited, the fact that you can get rejuvenated with the same. Dr Hsu: Absolutely. This device was originally developed as the premier tattoo removal device. But over time as we came to understand the laser and tissue interaction, we understand it now it’s a very, very powerful skin rejuvenation device as well. The best thing about is that even with just one or two treatments, with zero down time and remarkably, zero pain, we can change the complexion, change the skin tone and change the texture all in one sitting, and that occurs whether you are light-skinned or Asian skin, or darker skin tone. Works on everybody. Trish: Okay, so basically if I’m feeling like I need a bit of … like my skin’s […]
Cutera University Cutera University 2017 – Gold Coast we’re coming at ya! February 2, 2017 - One of the aesthetic industry events that I look forward to attending each year is Cutera University. This is a great forum where clinicians, practitioners, doctors, nurses and surgeons all gather to get up to speed with the latest techniques, innovations, developments and devices from Cutera. We love it: continuous learning for practitioners. The next Cutera University 2017 – Gold Coast we’re coming at ya! And we’re excited to be attending so close to home. Leading Keynote Speakers Staying at the forefront of the industry is essential when there are so many breakthroughs and new technology being discovered and released all the time. The Cutera University event features presentations by leading practitioners and aesthetic innovators including: Dr Sean Arendse, Director of Emergency Medicine Training at a Melbourne hospital, medical director of Flawless Rejuvenation Skin Clinic, national trainer and regular speaker for various cosmetic injectable products; Dr John Flynn, CEO of the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery; Dr Scott Ingram, Form & Function Clinic in Brisbane, past president of the Australasian Society of Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). Cutera Enlighten Cutera Enlighten for Tattoo Removal, with Dr Richard Green, Plastic Surgeon, Vancouver USA July 13, 2016 - Trish: Well, I’m here today with Dr. Rick Green who’s a plastic surgeon practicing in Vancouver, Washington and we’re going to talk about the Cutera Enlighten device. Thank you so much for taking the time today. Dr. Rick Green: Happy to be here. Trish: Lovely. Tell us … I love this device because I’ve actually seen it in operation, but can you tell us a little bit about it and what’s so great about the Enlighten for tattoo removal and whatever else? Dr. Rick Green: The Enlighten has been wonderful for tattoo removal because it decreases the number of treatments that it takes to get rid of tattoos. Traditionally, people have been getting 10-20 treatments even to get rid of tattoos and even then, they are not completely gone. This, on average, 4-6 treatments to get rid of tattoos essentially completely. It’s not a partial removal, it’s a complete removal of a tattoo. Trish: Yeah, well my daughter actually had two massive tattoos here. She’s had three treatments and they’re gone, which is unbelievable because a friend of hers had a smaller one, 13 treatments and it’s still there. Dr. Rick Green: The difference is, the older lasers weren’t able […]
Cutera In Who Do We Trust? We Turn Our Attention to the Companies Behind the Devices… May 16, 2016 - There’s been a lot of media and publicity lately on dodgy practitioners and the dangers of getting substandard results when having laser, light or injectable treatments. What we haven’t focussed on yet is the actual technologies and machines these practitioners are using when getting their dodgy results. As with practitioners, there are dodgy technology companies copying and trying to make a buck; and then there are the genuine, quality companies producing innovative and top of the range technologies that are transforming the non-surgical aesthetic industry. There are a few companies to look at but we’ll start at the top. Cutera are definitely one of the best and most well-respected. Having been founded by veteran laser and optical engineers in 1998, they are at the forefront of the medical aesthetic industry with devices that deliver high performance results with a focus on safety and patient satisfaction. Pioneers of the industry, Cutera focus their designs around the needs of their customers and constantly develop new devices and solutions based on a combination of new scientific discoveries and what the practitioners using their machines are demanding. The engineers who founded Cutera actually developed the first Nd YAG laser, which all other lasers from […]

Enlighten Tattoo Removal ANGEL’S TATTOO REMOVAL STORY UPDATE – You Won’t Believe What It Looks Like Now!! October 28, 2015 - One of the more popular real stories we did earlier this year was from Angel, a nurse from Sydney who hated her tattoos but had seemingly found a way to get rid of them through the Enlighten technology. Angel was thrilled with her first round of treatment from Enlighten and had found the results were even better than what she expected; and better than the results her friends had been getting through other methods of tattoo removal. See Angel’s original story here. We wanted to catch up with Angel to see how her tattoos were looking now after her second Enlighten treatment, and to see how she felt about the results. When we saw the photos of Angel’s tattoo that she provided us after her second round of Enlighten (that’s right, just TWO treatments with the Enlighten laser tattoo removal technology), we were blown away… astounded, actually. We have heard that Enlighten was getting some great results, which is why we have them listed on our website, but to see Angel’s photos we couldn’t really believe it. So often we see photos provided by the distributors of these machines and technologies but to see the results via someone independent is […]

Angel's Tattoo Removal I hate my tattoo – tattoo removal February 25, 2015 - Why the hell did I get this TATTOO? Thinking the same are you? Well if you don’t know that tattoo removal is one of the fastest growing beauty treatments in the world let alone Australia I’d be surprised, or I’d be led to think you didn’t have any tattoos. I fight the urge to tell my mum she was right and let her say I told you so. I’ll never forget coming home from the tattoo parlour where I’d headed to earlier in the day to get a tiny little 1cm crooked line-thin cross on my outer wrist covered up or redone. I came home with not one, but two tattoos – one on each of the back of my forearms, between the tip of my elbow and the line extension of my little finger. A big thumping locket, and of course you can’t have a locket without the matching key. Right? Well, four years later my love turned into dislike which turned into pure hatred. I hate using such a strong word but I HATE these tattoos. I never thought my tattoos would affect my work, the way people judge me at work, and in social settings. Now, you’re […]
Cutera University Cutera University – leading the way February 25, 2015 - Cutera is a company leading the way with new technology and innovations in laser and radio frequency devices. They have a range of products on the market that are considered some of the best in the industry. It was for these reasons that I was really excited to be attending the Cutera University Clinical Forum held in Sydney recently, where the world first and only dual wavelength and dual pulse duration laser system “enLIGHTen” was being launched into Australia. What is the enLIGHTen? It’s a Picosecond + Nanosecond laser system, for tattoo removal and the treatment of benign pigmented lesions. Check out this bloggers experience with it – amazing results with just 1 session already!! Not only did I learn heaps about the actual devices Cutera has developed, but I was surrounded by expert surgeons and practitioners just as passionate as I am about the cosmetic industry all weekend! Some of the topics discussed included laser physics and safety, difficult to treat patients, short pulse lasers (for tattoo removal and pigment discolouration treatment) and combination therapies (this is a really interesting topic that I will be writing more about in the near future so keep an eye out!). Also discussed […]
